An industry leader in the built environment, SAJO is in search of dynamic candidates for the position of PROJECT MANAGER for its MILLWORK PROCUREMENT division. This position is based in Montreal, Quebec. 

Position Summary

 The Project Manager must demonstrate in-depth understanding of project management principles, procedures, and systems. He/she is responsible for the strategic direction, quality of execution, and on-time delivery of projects. The Project Manager is responsible for managing the budget, scheduling, coordinating team members, maintaining ongoing communication with stakeholders, and implementing all phases of a project with accuracy and thorough documentation.

Reporting directly to the Director and Senior Project Manager of the Millwork Procurement Division, the Project Manager’s responsibilities are as follows:


RESPONSABILITIES

  • Deliver high-quality commercial and residential millwork projects of varying scopes and budgets from proposal through to completion
  • Manage multiple projects from start to final completion
  • Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with clients and vendors and negotiate/award contracts with respective vendors
  • Communicate with clients to ensure adherence to their specific requests
  • Comprehend, interpret and design detailed working plans from preliminary sketches, specifications and other client supplied data
  • Assist client in developing design intent criteria to produce shop drawings
  • Monitor status and compliance of shop drawings with regards to timeliness and accuracy
  • Read shop drawings and generate take-offs of millwork/metal and other components
  • Create shop drawings from architectural plans with lean manufacturing design for purposes of production
  • Determine resources required from start to finish with close attention to budget
  • Review and prepare bid documents
  • Review project plans and specifications and coordinate with the team
  • Establish production schedules and revise schedules to reflect design changes, backlogs, or delays
  • Coordinate production and shipping activities and ensure shipping schedules are respected
  • Monitor work progress to assess compliance with quality standards
  • Monitor and track time at which components are produced/received/shipped
  • Monitor and control progress, costs and budgets throughout the project
  • Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports regarding job status
  • Resolve complex details on highly customized millwork elements
  • Effectively execute solutions in an efficient, accurate and cost-effective manner
  • Document production and transportation schedules, delays, changes, and any other information pertinent to the operational flow of the project

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: A university degree, collegial or technical diploma in the areas of engineering, architecture building sciences, construction technology or related disciplines.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 to 7 years project management experience, preferably in the design, estimation, procurement, and production of high-end, custom-made millwork and metal fixtures.
  • Technology: Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, MS Project, Outlook) and have knowledge of AutoCAD and PROCORE and/or other project management software. Must be skilled in accessing, manipulating, and completing all online forms and documents.
  • Languages: Must have excellent verbal and written communication, both in French and English.
  • General Skills: The Project Manager must be proficient in interpreting architectural and shop drawings. He/she must have excellent organizational, management, negotiating and leadership skills. As well, he/she is required to be a high achiever, detail-oriented, efficient, flexible, quality driven, and always focused on solutions.
