SAJO’S Miami team delivers a luxury residence in Sunny Isles, FL.

SAJO’s foray into the private residential market, led to its undertaking the complete fit-out of a luxury condominium in a globally recognized branded tower.

Sunny Isles Beach is an exclusive resort area lined by the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Intracoastal Waterway on the west. Its high-rise hotels and ultra-luxury branded condominium towers dominate the skyline. Designated as South Florida’s Riviera, its scenic landscape, long stretches of pristine beaches and nearby upscale restaurants, luxury shopping destinations, and culturally diverse entertainment venues, render it idyllic for residential living and tourist excursions.

SAJO’s foray into the private residential market, led to its undertaking the complete fit-out of a luxury condominium in a globally recognized branded towerIn its design-assist, procurement, and general contracting capacity, SAJO executed the project over a 13-month period from September 2020 to October 2021. In partnership with the architect and designer, Philip Hazan Design, SAJO’s Miami team delivered an exquisite 2200 square-foot beachfront getaway.

The design features of the Sunny Isles Residence are noteworthy. Its private elevator opens unto a custom terrazzo and Calacatta Vagli foyer, with a sprawling Carlyle chandelier and floating bronze ceiling, leading to a clad oak door flanked by a hidden shoe cabinet (for those in the know). Once inside, the 180-degree views of the Atlantic Ocean take over. Attention then drifts to the walls which have been clad with custom designed moldings made of vacuum sealed reconstituted oak veneers from Italy. All doors along the north wall are concealed seamlessly into the paneling and solid brass angle runs top and bottom throughout the great room. A beautifully executed terrazzo floor runs through the apartment, interspersed with inlay carpets lined by brass transitions.

SAJO was tasked with working alongside the client and architectural designer to develop not only an aesthetically designed wall paneling, but one that could resist the humid weather conditions of South Florida, all while being impervious to staining and damage. Through several rounds of R&D, mock-ups and testing, the decision was made to use a European reconstituted wood, vacuum sealed around a mold, developed in house by SAJO. The result is a mix of rich wood paneling, akin to what is found in a stately library, blended with the light beach tones of the surrounding exterior landscape.

While the best design may be the one engineered by the Atlantic Ocean, the Sunny Isles Residence may just be a close second.
