Salone del Mobile Milano 2026: Reflections from Milan

This year, members of the SAJO team travelled to Milan to experience the event firsthand, discovering new products, reconnecting with industry partners, and gaining inspiration from one of the world’s leading design events.

Centered around the theme “A Matter of Salone,” the 2026 edition placed materials at the heart of the conversation—not only for their aesthetic qualities, but for their role in craftsmanship, sustainability, and long-term performance. Throughout the exhibition, one message stood out: thoughtful design begins with thoughtful material choices.

Another defining trend was the growing emphasis on complete spatial experiences. Rather than focusing on individual products, many exhibitors showcased environments where furniture, lighting, finishes, and architecture work together to create spaces that feel welcoming, adaptable, and human-centered. Traditional craftsmanship was also prominently featured alongside innovative manufacturing techniques, demonstrating how technology can enhance—rather than replace—the value of skilled makers. 

Beyond the exhibition halls, Milan Design Week once again transformed the city into a vibrant celebration of creativity. From immersive installations to collaborations between design, fashion, and architecture, the city itself became an extension of the fair, offering fresh perspectives and inspiring conversations at every turn.
