The lush, green and peaceful surrounding is the ideal juxtaposition for the hustle and bustle of the barbecue party, where everyone takes a mid-day break from busy schedules to unwind and connect with others. .

SAJO’s dedicated marketing administrator, responsible for organizing and coordinating all facets of the barbecue event, takes great care to ensure its success, leaving no room for happenstance. One such facet is photo shoots which not only capture the precious moments of the day but also preserve the memory of the event as an integral part of SAJO’s living legacy. The barbecue kicks off each year with a group photo on the front steps of the SAJO edifice followed by a stream of other photos, both professional and personal, taken throughout the festive gathering.

Meticulous planning is required to select, purchase, and prepare an array of tasty foods relished by staff. The barbecue menu typically consists of hamburgers, sausages, chicken, and salmon accompanied by an assortment of salads, cut-up veggies, fruits, and beverages. Additionally, food trucks serving gourmet pizza, gelato ice cream, and specialty coffees, enhance the gustatory pleasures of the day.

SAJO volunteers from all departments lend a hand in setting up all necessary equipment including tents, booths, tables, chairs, utensils, and the like as well as in arranging food platters for either the grill or self-serve stands. Directors and project managers are typically the ones to don white aprons and manage the grill, never missing an opportunity to kibitz and enjoy playful banter while flipping burgers and sausages.

Volunteers from other departments prepare a delicious assortment of salads and then man the self-serve food stations to ensure platters are kept replenished to the brim. Amid the cheerful chatter and animation of recreational games, second and third servings are savored by a steady flow of hearty, culinary fans.
